Preparing for the trip

Captain Jerry has been making the final preparations to North Star, our 32 foot Cape Island down east trawler. We are anxious to leave our landlubber lives behind and begin our long awaited journey around the Great Circle. Join us as we travel 10, 000 kilometers: through the historic Trent Severn Waterway; the pristine waters of Georgian Bay; the North Channel of lake Huron; and hop from beach to beach on lake Michigan. We will visit Chicago and begin our trek along the rivers: Illinois; upper Mississippi; Ohio; Cumberland: Tennessee; Tenn-Tom Waterway and the Black Warrior. We will have transited through 68 locks at this juncture. We have chosen the inner route from Mobile Alabama to Tarpon Springs Florida and the shorter Ocheechobee Waterway to reach the East coast of Florida. We will skip over to the Bahamas to wait out the winter before heading North on the Atlantic Inter Coastal Waterway.
The 10 years of researching and planning are finally at an end and we invite you to come along on our adventure.

Feeling hot hot hot!!!

The weather is spectacular with daytime highs in the 80s and night time lows in the mid 60s, perfect beach days.
We rode our bikes up and down Main Street on Saturday morning to shop at all the yard sales that were set up at various trailer parks.  Lots of good deals to be had.  We had to come back to the boat to empty our baskets and back we went to refill them.  The boat is getting crowded again, we will have to unload at our other boat on the way East.
Sunday we drove over to the two large flea markets here in Fort Myers. We still managed to buy a few more things.  I mostly bought fresh vegetables and Jerry found some tools he needed.
We continue to eat sheephead that Jerry catches at the dock or those that his buddy Diamond Jim gives him.
I spent the afternoon at the beach yesterday while Jerry started the repairs to the side decks. We joined Bill and Anna for an evening of trivial pursuit at the Moose Lodge.  Our side of the room lost all three games. It was still a lot of fun.
Tomorrow is bowling night, more on that later.
