Preparing for the trip

Captain Jerry has been making the final preparations to North Star, our 32 foot Cape Island down east trawler. We are anxious to leave our landlubber lives behind and begin our long awaited journey around the Great Circle. Join us as we travel 10, 000 kilometers: through the historic Trent Severn Waterway; the pristine waters of Georgian Bay; the North Channel of lake Huron; and hop from beach to beach on lake Michigan. We will visit Chicago and begin our trek along the rivers: Illinois; upper Mississippi; Ohio; Cumberland: Tennessee; Tenn-Tom Waterway and the Black Warrior. We will have transited through 68 locks at this juncture. We have chosen the inner route from Mobile Alabama to Tarpon Springs Florida and the shorter Ocheechobee Waterway to reach the East coast of Florida. We will skip over to the Bahamas to wait out the winter before heading North on the Atlantic Inter Coastal Waterway.
The 10 years of researching and planning are finally at an end and we invite you to come along on our adventure.

Still lolligagging at Osprey Marina

Captain Jerry is working away at his boat repairs.  He completed the decks and is working on shining up the railings. The salt air plays havoc on the aluminium.  I am cleaning and reading and cooking.
Those nice folks who had us over for Easter, Jon and Pat, took us to the supermarket to resupply. I can't tell you how much cruisers appreciate a hand with this. Even when the stores are close it is a big undertaking to get out there on bicycles and cart heavy grocery items back. We often have to make several trips. Thanks again Jon.
We had a nice camp fire the other night.  They have a barrel with wood in it so we had an outdoor cook out followed by guitar playing by the campfire.  There are not too many people here at night so no one joined us. They have a nice screened in area with picnic tables so we ate out of the wind and the bugs.  There are lots of barn swallows so the mosquitoes are somewhat under control. We have seen a lot worse.
It looks like we will stay one more day so that we can complete some chores and paperwork.  The price is right so what is the hurry.  It is supposed to go down to 38 degrees at night so I want to stay close to the heater.
