Well we got up early yesterday to cross the open stretches of water beforee the winds came up. The forecast was for stronger winds in the afternoon. We had some light chop on our beam as it was so later in the day would have been more uncomfortable. We are amazed at the narrow channels that meander among the treacherous rocks. Some places it is hard to believe you are still in the channel. Perhaps this is only true of the small craft route but there is no scenery on the outside route. Wide open water is not much to look at.
We are anchored at Rabbit Island in the Byng Inlet (N45 46.147' and W080 34.212'). We were able to reprovision and get the laundry done while tied at the public dock in the town of Britt. This is a very small community but it has most essentials including propane. The water is 79 degrees and very clean so swimming and showering has not been an issue yet. We had a thunderstorm early this morning with high winds, rain and a spectacular lightning show. I was up closing all the hatches and making sure the anchor was holding while the Captain slept soundly. I love thunderstorms and pounding rain on the boat, no problems at all.
Today is sunny and hot, we have been in swimming and we will set off for the Bustard Islands. They are supposed to be some of the best anchorages in Georgian Bay. More on that tomorrow.
